Flight Visualization System

Product Description

VR FLIGHT VIZ is a tactical training simulator. It has 4 modes of operation: Pre-briefing mode (rehearsal mode), De-briefing mode (After Action Review (AAR)), Simulation mode and Networked mode. In the Pre-briefing mode the pilot can navigate through the virtual landscape, familiarizing him/herself with key features of the landscape. This is ideal for mission planning and mission previews (mission rehearsals). In the De-briefing mode, flight data that has been recorded during a real mission, is downloaded onto the system. The whole mission can then be recreated and re-experienced (After Action Review (AAR)). In the Simulation mode the pilot can fly over the landscape. In the Networked mode up to 127 systems may be linked together by means of a computer network. Several pilots can now share the virtual world to fly against (or with) each other.

History ribbons trace the flight of aircraft through the airspace. Each aircraft is assigned a color. The ribbons have index-arrows that are two seconds apart. This helps to gauge the relative movement of aircraft with respect to each other.
Flight De-briefing Mode: History Ribbons
Once the flight data has been recorded, it can be played back forward or backward, as well as at different speeds (fast, normal speed, slow motion). The playback may also be paused. It is possible to jump to a specific time, and also to jump between aircraft.
Flight De-briefing Mode: Record and Playback
History ribbons of a real air combat exercise criss-cross the airspace. Three aircraft took part in this exercise.
Flight De-briefing Mode: Air Combat History Ribbons
An aircraft takes off on a simulated sortie. The aircraft may be viewed from outside, or the pilot view (from the cockpit) may be displayed. The simulated mission may be recorded in a similar way that a real mission is recorded. The simulated mission may therefore also be de-briefed.
Simulation Mode: Take-off (1)
A virtual aircraft is shown in the foreground, with the runway and airport buildings in the background.
Simulation Mode: Take-off (2)
In the networked mode up to 127 virtual aircraft may share the same virtual environment. Aircraft may fly together, or they may compete with each other. Note the dynamic head up display [hud]. The networked mode is ideal for tactical simulation. With the networked tactical simulator pilots are not taught how to fly their aircraft. Instead, they are taught how to fly tactically and how to use their aircraft as weapons delivery platforms.
Networked Mode: Flying in Formation
